OCMI has a great opportunity for an IT Support Summer Intern based in Washington, DC regional metropolitan area! The IT Support Summer Intern will provide internal assistance to the IT Department, focusing on desktop support and IT initiatives. Directly reporting to OCMI's Director of Information Systems and Services and close proximity to IT Manager, the intern will undertake a range of tasks, including assisting end-users with application installations and upgrades, managing inventory, creating IT documentation, collaborating on special projects with the IT team, and offering end-user support as required. great opportunity for students with helpdesk exposure to strengthen their skills and gain hands-on experience.
This part-time summer internship offers a pay rate of $17.00 per hour, approximately 15-20 hours per week, starting in June 2024 and extending through late August. The intern will enjoy schedule flexibility and will primarily work remotely, with the possibility of occasional in-person assignments at our regional office in Rockville, MD (red line metro accessible).
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing desktop assistance and support for IT projects.
- Assisting in maintaining inventory records and documentation.
- Performing basic installations and upgrades on endpoints.
- Contributing to technical and policy documentation.
- Engaging with the team and end-users for support and project-related activities.
- Responding promptly to support requests.
- Assisting with other assigned IT and data-related tasks.
General Requirements:
- Ideally, some exposure to helpdesk support experience.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a certification program or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Windows 10/11 Operating Systems and the MS Office Suite.
- Strong writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify, research, and resolve technical issues.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attentiveness to detail.
