Job Overview:
The Admission Assistant is responsible for receiving and reviewing referrals and working in conjunction with case coordinators to bring youth into O'Connell Children's Shelter, assuring every youth bed in the houses is full as capacity allows, and tracking payments and reconciliation.
Duties:
1. Receive and review referrals against admission requirements and make recommendations regarding admission to OCS.
2. Work with case coordinators, residential director, house manager or ED to evaluate admissions.
3. Documentation as required to support the admission process and provide accessible records of capacity.
4. Manage and file paperwork in a timely manner.
5. Keep census of admissions up to date and posted.
6. Track referrals to assure efficient process.
7. Collect discharge paperwork and surveys from house staff once a youth discharges.
8. Documentation of outcomes monthly and entering the information into the spreadsheet.
9. Collecting and entering information to database and updating when needed.
10. Assist with resident appointments or back up case coordinators.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
-High school diploma or equivalent
-At least two years’ experience working with youth
-Able to pass KBI Background Check
-Able to pass a CANIS Check
-Able to pass an Adult Abuse & Registry Check
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with the foster care and juvenile justice systems and with families.
Possess a Kansas driver's license with driving record that satisfies the agency's insurer.
