Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
In this role, the successful candidate The Section for Health Equity at NYU School of Medicine's Department of Population Health is looking to hire a per diem student research intern. The research intern will work with the New York City Cancer Outreach Network in Neighborhoods for Equity and Community Translation (CONNECT) project. This project is a CDC-funded, community-engaged program aiming to reduce breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening disparities in four NYC neighborhoods (Brooklyn: Sunset Park and East Flatbush; Bronx: Morrisania and Highbridge). This position involves interacting with a multidisciplinary team of partners from NYU, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Food Bank for NYC, and community-based organizations to conduct the randomized controlled trial portion of NYC CONNECT.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Project knowledge – Demonstrate thorough knowledge of our research study, study rationale, and processes of the study.
    2. Recruitment and outreach – Work with our clinic and community partners to outreach, screen, and recruit for the research study.
    3. Survey administration – Assist with outreach and conducting survey assessments in REDCap, including data entry/cleaning and translating as necessary.
    4. Community engagement – Provide information about NYC CONNECT and obtain feedback from community members, translating as necessary.
    5. Collaboration – Engage in weekly team meetings and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program.
Background and/or coursework in epidemiology, public health, or related research.
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) and REDCap.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
Comfortable interacting with community members both on the phone and in person.
Fluency (ability to read, write, and speak) in Haitian Creole.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in community outreach and engagement in Brooklyn. Experience in data entry/cleaning is preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $0.01 - $16.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
