NYU Langone is Hiring a Physician - WTC Environmental Health Center (WTC EHC) Near New York, NY

Brief Description of Duties:
The Bellevue WTC Environmental Health Center (WTC EHC) is one of the Centers of Excellence in the WTC Health Program funded by the Centers for Disease Control under the auspices of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The WTC EHC offers comprehensive, integrative healthcare of 9/11-related illnesses for community members impacted by WTC disaster (WTC Survivors). Integral to our mission of patient-centered care is an enduring support community including medical and mental health providers, advocacy for our 9/11 survivors, and cutting edge research efforts. The incumbent must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. The clinician will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Conduct standardized initial and monitoring, evaluations to identify conditions that can be covered in the WTC Program.
  • Provide treatment to WTC Program patients for WTC covered conditions including but not limited to aerodigestive diseases.
  • Provide diagnostic assessments including cancer screening as appropriate.
  • Actively participate in our Collaborative Care Model of healthcare delivery with WTC EHC psychologists and psychiatrists trained in PTSD, depression anxiety and adjustment disorders.
  • Provide referral and periodic oversight of patients with cancer enrolled in the WTC Care Management program who receive cancer care at specialty programs.
  • Make referrals as appropriate to other healthcare providers and/or consult with physicians for further definitive therapy.
  • Perform necessary administrative duties associated with the WTC program including but not limited to completing final letters, Worker's Compensation, as well as certification for WTC-related illnesses, which is required for continued care in the program.
  • Use EPIC electronic medical records system for all patient charting
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the WTC Medical Director, providers, social workers, clinical administrator, nurses and other staff relative to select aspects of patient care or administrative issues.
  • Participate in WTC Clinical Case conferences and education sessions including sessions in Environmental Medicine, pertinent to provision of care to the program,
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
A license to practice as a Physician in New York State. Graduation from an AAMC-, COCA-, or ECFMG-accredited medical school and completion of an AGME-accredited residency, preferably in internal, primary care, family, preventive or occupational medicine. 

Preferred Qualifications:
At least two years of experience in the treatment of general medical illnesses including lower respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease in an ambulatory setting beyond residency. Interest or experience in Environmental Medicine. Specialty training in Pulmonary Medicine with an interest in ambulatory practice would be considered an advantage.
