Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medication Safety and Quality Specialist.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for overseeing medication safety and quality practices for NYU Medical Center and for growing NYULMC into an institution for excellence in medication-use safety and quality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Promotes a Just Culture
    • Coordinate and track medication safety and quality projects by defining objective, scope, deliverables, and milestones; identifying stakeholders; planning tasks and activities; ensuring the availability of resources to accomplish goals in a timely manner; and ensuring all stakeholders provide directives on time
    • Collect, analyze, summarize, and trend data from health care technology systems (including the electronic medical record, pharmacy dispensing systems, and the smart pump system) as related to medication-use safety, pharmacist verification quality, and medication-use outcomes
    • Manage the change control process for the hospital's smart pump library
    • Supervise the optimization of medication-related clinical decision alerts in health care technology systems
    • Provide education and coaching related to behaviors that promote the safe use of medications
    • Serve as an internal consultant to investigate medication safety events or issues and develop recommendations for action
    • Collaboratively coordinates interdisciplinary meetings for the Medication Safety Committee, its medication error review subcommittee, and smart infusion pump subcommittee

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree and Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) with PGY1 pharmacy residency, 5 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of NY. If eligible only, employee must obtain NYS licensure within 6 months of hire..
Required Licenses: Pharmacist License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of medication safety principles and quality improvement methodologies Experience leading health care quality improvement initiatives, including conducting proactive risk assessments (e.g., failure mode and effects analysis) and adverse event investigations (e.g., root cause analysis) Previous training or certification in project management and team building Experience with Epic electronic medical record system and Alaris infusion systems

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,479.19 - $165,902.10 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
