When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operate.
Duties DescriptionWill perform maintenance and rehabilitation on infrastructure, including buildings, recreation facilities, bridges, dams, access roads, trails, boundary lines, and wildlife management areas.
Will be required to perform moderate to heavy manual labor; climb a ladder and work at heights on scaffolds and platforms; operate heavy equipment, large tractors and mowers; transport heavy equipment and haul gravel. Will have to adhere to all applicable safety standards and procedures.
Additional CommentsMust have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
