Reports to: Elementary Principal

Primary Role:

This position is for an Elementary Campus Assistant. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years of experience working in a school setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office or Google Suite Skills

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and daily demands
  • Work independently with minimal direction
  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect in dealing with staff, students, parents, visitors, etc.
  • Experience with project and event management, coordination, and communication
  • Ability to direct and manage adults serving in a variety of campus roles
  • High level of flexibility and ability to navigate rapid shifts to schedules and plans
  • Strong ability to navigate emotionally charged conversations
  • Work confidentially and with discretion and empathy
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and daily demands
  • Strong experience in setting student expectations and classroom management
  • Demonstrate the ability to be equitable and fair

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide support in the front office during expected high-traffic times 
  • Support administration in creating and disseminating electronic campus communication 
  • Coordinate substitute teacher assignments to support the highest needs and to accommodate meeting coverage throughout the day
  • Onboard and check in with new substitutes, ensuring they can locate rosters, folders, and other materials
  • Facilitate plans and communication to split classes when no substitutes are available
  • Provide guidance and coordination of campus cafeteria monitors, including onboarding and managing responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor incentive programs aligned with expectations and communication for students’ lunchtime tray pick-up and mealtime
  • Work collaboratively with administration and district operations team members to consistently monitor and address challenges related to food services or cafeteria monitoring
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and team amongst cafeteria monitors with regular communication, updates, celebrations
  • Monitor cafeteria, hallways, and restrooms to ensure proper behavior from students
  • Monitor restrooms and report any function, safety or vandalism issues to facilities
  • Report issues with instructional resources, including printers and copy machines
  • Assist principal and assistant principals in enforcing school and district rules, regulations, and policies regarding SOPs and student discipline
  • Assist campus administrators in supporting ISS for short periods
  • Assist campus administrators in supporting and coordinating campus events - Meet the Teacher, Family Literacy Night, Steam Fair, Picture Day, Night of the Arts, etc.
  • Coordinate logistics and communication for after-school programs
  • Assist in communication and problem-solving issues connected to after-school programs either from staff, parents, or program coordinators/sponsors/coaches
  • Create a weekly dismissal plan to be posted in the front office clarifying the week’s after-school activities and pick-up plans
  • Support follow-up communication efforts with parents who consistently miss the timeline for student pick-up
  • Support with welcoming new families and students and walking them to the classroom on the first day when administrators are not available
  • Support administration with testing coordination and preparation as needed
  • Support administration with set up and preparations for staff development and celebrations
  • Oversee campus beautification projects such as - ensuring SOP posters are hanging and in good shape each quarter, ensuring bulletin boards in hallways are covered and in good order, and supporting the front office manager in decorating and ensuring the lobby and front office are welcoming and cheerful
  • Coordinate with nurses to support school health events such as vision/hearing screening, scoliosis, vaccination records, etc.
  • Assist with purchasing supplies or goods as directed by the principal
  • Assist with planning and coordinating services for study trips as needed
  • Guide visitors or students to the designated locations from the front office as needed
  • Perform diverse office-related responsibilities within areas and limits of authority as delegated by the principal
  • Ensure common areas are tidy and staged with appropriate furniture and materials
  • Support Administration in addressing families with attendance issues
  • Support Administration in coordinating new student meetings
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • Must have sufficient physical strength to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing over 20lbs
  • Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods; however, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, and ladders may be required intermittently.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned equipment and a computer keyboard
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone
