Job Description

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION
The New York City Housing Authority is seeking a City Seasonal Aide for the Resident Relocations Services Department. This role is to support relocation of NYCHA residents at developments where planned major modernization or unplanned urgent repairs are required, including repairs to address health and safety issues. Reporting to the Community Associate, of the Resident Relocations Services Department, the City Seasonal Aide will be responsible for the following:
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NYCHA families and third-party vendors.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience for all stakeholders.
  • Perform various office tasks, including filing, data entry, and answering phone calls to third-party vendors.
  • Keep accurate records and assist with documentation related to resident relocations.
  • Some assignments may involve fieldwork, where you’ll actively engage with residents and assess their needs.
  • Participate in the development of a comprehensive Needs Assessment for residents. This assessment will guide decision-making and resource allocation during the relocation process.
  • Collaborate with residents to schedule environmental health and safety apartment inspections. Ensuring safe living conditions is a top priority.
  • Facilitate the delivery of prepaid cards to residents who are being relocated to hotels. These cards provide essential financial support during the transition.
  • Appropriate follow-up on assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

The ability to understand and carry out simple instructions; in some cases the ability to speak Spanish may be required. There are no formal education requirements for this position.

- Ability to understand and carry out simple instructions effectively. - In some cases, proficiency in Spanish may be required. - High School Diploma or its equivalent - The role may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking while performing job duties. - Candidates must have a good understanding of the English language. - Depending on the assignment, you may need to perform specific physical tasks related to the role. - Strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective communication with diverse populations. - Comfortably work with Microsoft Office tools, including Access, Excel, and Word. - Experience in community organizing and outreach is valuable. - Bilingual (English and another language) is a plus.
