Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: St. Peter's Hospital has an opportunity for an experienced surgical tech to further develop their skills by working full time in their Cardiac Operating Room! The surgical technologist creates and maintains a sterile field, performs accurate sponge, sharp and instrument counts and provides equipment and supplies based on the patients' needs. The surgical technologist is a person who performs surgery related tasks and functions under the direction and supervision of an appropriately licensed healthcare professional participating in the surgery and acting within the scope of his or her practice to direct and supervise the surgical technologist. Minimum requirements: Must meet one of the following: Associates degree in Surgical Technology NYS LPN license Completed an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of January 1, 2015 Ability to work on call and report to work within 30 minutes Must pass NYS operating certification if not already certified within 1 year of start date Desired requirements: 1 year of experience as a surgical tech in an operating room setting Successful completion of a surgical technical program Certification as a surgical technologist Work and engage with a team Communicate well in a stressful environment Pay Range:$25.85 - $34.64 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
