Job Description:

The SUNY Poly Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE, https://sunypoly.edu/) is seeking applicants for the position Metrology SEM/FIB/TEM Analyst to work in its 300mm semiconductor development facilities. This position is responsible for off-line SEM & FIB/TEM characterization analysis of structures and devices fabricated on 200/300mm Si or SiC wafers. The position will report to the Director of Metrology Services. The preferred shift for this position is daytime and evenings but flexibility will be provided depending on candidate's expertise and qualifications.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effective day-to-day operation of SEM/FIB/TEM instruments for analytical work focusing on Silicon and Silicon Carbide customer needs.
  • Preparation of Si/SiC/other samples using FIB for FIBSEM analysis and for TEM analysis.
  • Clear communication and prompt interaction with requestors to fully and clearly understand analysis requirements and reporting of results.
  • Prioritize work when queued with multiple requests.
  • Ensure timely communication of analysis results.
  • Ensure analysis requests are submitted and tracked following ISO procedures.
  • Attendance at technology group meetings to advise on use of metrology techniques.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of structures and materials submitted for analyst.
  • Work to minimize TAT for all SEM/FIB/TEM jobs.
  • Monitor operation and schedule effective maintenance of SEM/FIB/TEM to maximize tool utilization and tool uptime.
  • Further capabilities of the analysis techniques by developing additional sample preparation procedures.
  • Develop wet-etch sample prep capability to improve delineation contrast on SEM samples.
  • Develop polishing capability on site for preparation of cross-section or planar samples.
  • Grow the analysis capabilities of the analysis and metrology labs.
  • Maintain contact with other on-site F/A group to utilize additional equipment there if needed.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate's degree in an engineering or science related discipline from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization OR equivalent experience which includes at least 6 years of semiconductor industry or research and development experience.

Candidate must have a working knowledge in one or more process tools or modules required to build advanced CMOS devices; must also demonstrate proficiency in computers and IT infrastructure including manufacturing execution system applications, project planning, and forward thinking for contributing to process solutions for test wafer flows and equipment evaluation; excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must be willing to execute a variety of tasks on short notice. Knowledge of MS Office, and semiconductor equipment operation are strongly recommended. Must be willing to work either evening or off shifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree in an engineering or science related discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization. 4 years of experience working in the semiconductor industry particularly SiC industry, as a metrology, SEM, FA technician is highly preferred. Hands-on experience with at least 2years with SEM instrument operation including sample preparation by cleaving or FIB is desired. Familiarity with FIB SEM and TEM prep will be preferred. Experience with TEM analysis will be a definite plus.

Salary Range: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
