ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCore duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.• Coordinate completion of prior authorizations.• Verifying patient’s insurance eligibility.• Submit requested medical documentation to insurance companies.• Troubleshoot authorization related issues. • Work with insurance plants to pre-authorize and re-authorization of patient services.• Maintain contact regarding status of authorization and any additional documentation needed.• Verification of eligibility and benefits.• Respond to internal/external inquiries relating to authorizations.• Follow up on insurance authorizations.• Additional duties as assigned.
Each NVISION employee is responsible for adhering to law and NVISION policy which prohibits the unauthorized disclosure of any information regarding a patient’s medical history, mental or physical condition, or treatment without the expressed authorization of the patient or the patient’s legal representative.This position may have access to confidential information. This includes, but not limited to, protected health information (“PHI”) of patients treated at NVISION, employment records, and information related to NVISION business practices and plans. NVISION and its workforce are legally and ethically obligated to protect such information as defined in federal law or regulation, and policies of NVISION. All members of the NVISION Workforce are required to report any potential concerns related to PHI immediately. “Workforce” is defined as employees, volunteers, trainees and other persons under the direct scope of NVISION whether or not paid by NVISION. Also included are any independent contractors who have not signed a Business Associate Agreement.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE AND OR LICENSE/CERTIFICATION• At least 1 year of previous experience in insurance verification and authorizations required.• Prior pre-authorization and authorization knowledge/experience.
