Pet ER in Columbia, MD is looking to add 1 to 2 more Emergency Veterinarian Mentees to our team! We offer a tailored mentorship program that lasts about 6 to 9 months, based on individual progress and mastery, and is tied to a full-time Emergency Associate position following training.

The ideal candidate is a finishing fourth-year DVM student, recent graduate, or an experienced veterinarian looking to make the shift from general practice or urgent care. If you have dreamed of starting a career in emergency medicine but don’t want to go the internship route, this is for you!

About the program

Our training program is part of Ethos Veterinary Health’s ER Immerse (ERi) mentorship program, which utilizes a mixture of clinical, hands-on training; digital lectures; didactic rounds; and one on one mentorship guidance. Our program focuses on receiving, ICU/ inpatient care, surgery, ultrasound and more to provide you with a strong foundation for long-term success in a busy emergency veterinarian career. 

Resources include:

•In-hospital mentorship and training from experienced ER clinicians and/or Criticalists

•Access to recorded lectures, trainings, and online materials through VetBloom

•The ER Quickguide of common presentations in the ER

•Access to over 50 veterinary journals

•Regular live continuing education events led by Ethos specialists and Emergency DVMs

•Emergency & Critical Care focused journal clubs

•Clinical grand rounds

•Radiology rounds

•Weekly virtual rounds with other ERi mentees across the U.S.

•Opportunities for career development through ER ABVP track
