Lead a team to ensure compliance with all site environmental permits, including local, state and federal regulatory requirements
Adhere to all site safety and environmental policies/procedures, including OSHA and MSHA regulations
Supervise a team of Environmental professionals, Technicians and certified Operators in Responsible Charge (ORCs) responsible for compliance sampling and analysis, as well as operation of onsite water/wastewater systems
Manage team resources and sampling scheduling to complete all compliance obligations associated with the site compliance and permitting programs
Provide regulatory oversight of facility compliance program and associated permits
Providing engineering support and technical assistance to site production operations
Provide technical support in the design, specification, and selection of operational systems
Communicate effectively with site personnel and operational departments, providing regulatory guidance for production processes and process water systems (De-pressurization, Mine and Chemical Plant systems)
Communicate effectively with regulatory agencies responsible for facility water quality permits, local, state and federal (DHHS; NCDEQ - DWR, PWS, etc.; EPA)
Provide oversight of compliance reporting schedule for associated permits
Complete compliance reporting and permit applications associated with permits
Attend regulatory training seminars to stay updated on current regulatory requirements and improve knowledge as a subject matter expert
Gain knowledge of day-to-day operations of production unit and keeps informed of operational problems/upsets that may effect site regulatory compliance
Provide technical support for continuous improvement projects and safety initiatives
What You Will Bring
Bachelor of Science degree, Environmental/Chemical Engineering required
Experience – minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
Strong organizational skills
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal & written) with a diverse group of people
Possess a high degree of integrity and personal responsibility
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Basic knowledge of process chemistry and project economics
Work experience in chemical plant, refinery, or other processing or manufacturing industry preferred
