Description

This position is a salary exempt position that will be on the Roseville, MN pipeline maintenance crew. This position is subject to random DOT drug testing.

This position is responsible for accurately coordinating and supervising the work of maintenance employees and contractors in routine and non-routine pipeline maintenance activities within geographically assigned area.

These responsibilities shall include pipeline assets, pump stations, valve sites and terminals.

Responsibilities include :

• Supervises and assigns the work for maintenance employees and contractors.
• Determines material, equipment, and supplies required to complete tasks.
• Coordinate transfer of equipment and personnel from one project to another as needed.
• Directs and manage the maintenance activities of the assigned crafts in their area of responsibility. Including line locating, heavy equipment operation, pipeline welding, excavation / backfilling, and emergency response.
• Assumes responsibility for ensuring that company and contract maintenance employees are always in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain the required Operator Qualifications (OQ) needed for the supervisory role and manage the OQ program for all direct reports.
• Maintain all additional required training and certifications including CPWI / CWI, NDE, etc.
• Determine needs for maintenance materials, warehouse stock, rental equipment, and / or contract services based on project needs.
• Provides support in the coaching, training, development, and performance of maintenance hourly employees in their assigned craft.
• Complete all required project and task documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Attend and participate in project meetings as needed to assist in accomplishing scheduled work and help resolving key maintenance concerns and issues.
• Conduct toolbox safety meeting and discussions with direct reports as needed to achieve safety goals while communicating changes in company policy, procedures, and objectives to employees.
• Analyzes problems that may arise and find a workable solution that is practical as well as cost efficient.
• Performs physical labor related to pipeline maintenance activities and inspections including inspection of welds, pipe condition, and coating application as needed.
• Document and report near misses and incidents to management.
• Communicate with management daily to discuss progress, provide updates and / or discuss potential issues or concerns.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations as it pertains to pipeline maintenance activities reducing the potential risk to public safety and environment and minimizing company liability.

Requirements :

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; college degree is preferred.
• Eighteen months of education and training beyond high school level in general maintenance and repair, or a closely related area is strongly preferred.
• Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 8 years of related pipeline inspection and maintenance experience required.
• Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently proof work for accuracy.
• Ability to manage time and scheduling to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and PHMSA regulations.
• 80% travel is expected.

This position will require an individual to hold a valid driver’s license.

When a higher-level position exists candidates with greater qualifications may be considered for the position.
