General Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition and Food Service, the Nutrition and Food Service Specialist functions as a liaison between Family Child Care Educators and Nurtury. Responsibilities include ongoing monitoring of FCC educator’s programs for compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) regulations, processing monthly FCC food reimbursement claims, and a general overall understanding of nutritional requirements.

Essential Functions:

• Monitors compliance with the CACFP and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations by conducting regular site reviews at FCC Educator’s programs.
• Maintains and submits post visit monitor reviews in a timely fashion.
• Establishes and monitors appropriate written timelines for FCC Educators to correct any compliance discrepancies identified.
• Provides on-going food program technical assistance to FCC Educators during home reviews or afterwards.
• Maintains and ensures FCC Educator’s and children’s documents are up to date in accordance with CACFP and DESE regulations.
• Reviews FCC Educator’s monthly menus and claimed meal counts while also ensuring CACFP compliance.
• Provides the Finance Department with accurate and timely reports in order to process FCC Educator payments.
• Shares relevant FCC Educator and child information with Assistant Director and/or Director of Nutrition & Food Service, as necessary.
• As primary link between FCC Educators and Nurtury, consistently projects a professional and positive image in both oral and written communications.
• Collaborates with FCC System staff as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions:

• Bilingual oral and written (English/Spanish) required.
• Knowledge of CACFP and DESE
• Monitoring/supervision experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Local travel required.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Computer efficiency with MS Office, internet/e-mail/virtual meeting systems
