Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Safety Coordinator that is a leader in the division to help to achieve safety performance results through development and execution of the health and safety strategy, risk reduction, team engagement, compliance assurance, and training. Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading safety; ensuring OSHA compliance; assisting in the administration of Workers Compensation; assisting in the administration of industrial hygiene and ergonomics programs; training; maintaining and analyzing safety/health/incident data; assist with overseeing contractor safety programs; help maintain the safety management.
Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor’s new sheet mill with advanced steel making capabilities and lower carbon emissions. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational after two years of construction. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. The Safety Coordinator will have the opportunity to help establish the foundation for safety practices and culture at this advanced manufacturing facility in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. #LI-MC1
Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of safety professional experience working in industrial or construction safety
- A combination of education and/or demonstrated experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in the safety and health or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- OSHA VPP, SHARP, and/or CPP Experience
- CSP, SMS, or other Professional Designation, or the ability to obtain
- Experience with ISO 45001/ANSI Z10
- Experience in working with and managing a Safety Management System
