Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Birmingham, Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of Shift Safety Coordinator. The primary responsibilities include supporting and growing the overall safety culture of the division. Successful candidates will work a 12-hr rotating shift that aligns with the operational shift teams. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to safety audits, housekeeping & equipment inspections, safety training, incident investigation, contractor safety program, JSA development & review. The Shift Safety Coordinator will also be required to be an active member of the facilities confined space rescue team. The ability for effective communication, courageous leadership, and driving results are always required for success in this role.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience in Industrial Safety

Preferred Qualifications:

• Safety experience in Industrial environment
• EMS/Fire/First Responder
• Basic proficiency in computer applications (email, word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
