Nuasin Next Generation Charter School is in search of motivated, mission-aligned individuals that want to join us in providing the scholars and families of the Highbridge section of the Bronx with the truly excellent school they need and deserve. We are looking for educators that believe in the talent and intellectual capabilities of our scholars. We are looking for educators that are excited to engage and ignite our scholars in deep intellectual engagement of great ideas, problem-solving activities, and a complex understanding of our academic content. Nuasin is a school and community that cares about your why and expects you to bring passion, commitment, and respect to our scholars on a daily basis. The anticipated salary range is $58,000.00 to $65,000.00 for a candidate who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience to the job, education, and certifications.

Schoolwide Operations

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Managing Director of Operations.
  • Supports lunch and recess duties: including distribution of lunch, light cleaning of cafeteria between classes, as directed
  • Creating a warm, welcoming environment for all scholars, family, staff, and visitors.
  • Supervising scholars during arrivals and/or dismissal, as directed.
  • Support with all school wide events for staff and scholars, as directed.
  • Ensure the safety of scholars and staff in and around the school building, as directed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record keeping of New York City Department of Education, Office of Pupil Transportation and New York City School Foods mandates and requirements.
  • Support with lockdown and fire drills, as directed.
  • Updating ATS and school SIS daily..

School Brand

  • Assists with administrative tasks including but not limited to such tasks as mailings, copying, faxing, laminating and filing.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC School Foods mandates by ensuring roster counts are updated daily and menus are updated monthly.
  • Updating bulletin boards throughout the building.
  • Ensure operational excellence in all functions, events, projects, compliance, aesthetics at Nuasin.

Main Office Support

  • Effectively communicates with families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Support scholars and families with technology troubleshooting.
  • Enters a variety of data into data trackers and excel spreadsheets.
  • Greet all visitors and control access to the school.
  • Serve as gatekeeper to address questions and minimize interruptions of the school administration and instructional teams.
  • Set the tone for the school's warm and professional culture.
  • Answer phone calls, directing calls, taking messages, placing outgoing calls, making public address announcements, sending robo calls.
  • Ensure the school's main office environment is at all times clean, neat, organized and orderly.
  • Collect and maintain forms and other records, securing missing forms, and ensuring the confidentiality of all scholar records.
  • Using the SIS and other systems to maintain and update all scholar contact/demographic information
  • Process late scholar arrivals and following up with families of absent scholars.
  • Ensure scholars leave only with authorized parents or guardians.
  • Ensure memos, notices, and other school-specific documents are delivered, collected from classrooms and processed daily.
  • Occasionally assist the school nurse with the handling of sick scholars.
  • Assist Manager of Operations with special/time-sensitive projects throughout the year, including but not limited to: summer inventory, school year startup, scholar enrollment, recruitment, assemblies, and end of year closeout.
  • Update dismiss sheets daily for classrooms and distribute them to staff.
  • Other duties as designated by the Managing Director of Operations to ensure operational excellence at Nuasin.

Community Outreach

  • Be the face of Nuasin for new stakeholders who need to learn about our school and our community.
  • Maintain and update Next Generations Community Outreach Dashboard.
  • Provide the Managing Director of Operations with daily and weekly updates of outreach.
  • Develops and implements new innovative programs in conjunction with educational institutions, local business groups, charter friendly political organizations, elected officials, and service organizations.
  • Canvass the neighborhoods where Next Generation schools operate or hope to operate- promoting to residents, key community stakeholders and businesses.
  • Represent Next Generation schools with tablings at neighborhood businesses, community events, recruitment fairs, public or commercial locations and other external events as identified by you and the Managing Director of Operations.
  • Liaise with and foster relationships between in Next Generations targeted neighborhoods at daycares, 3K/UPK programs, afterschool programs to create long-lasting partnerships and cultivate a strong pipeline of new scholars.
  • Provide an excellent customer service experience in all interactions with Next Generation schools, community based organizations and potential leads.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with community-based organizations in the neighborhoods that we serve through regular in-person, phone-based and email communications.
  • Develop, maintain and update a cadence for community outreach, to include social media posts, community outreach, event attendance, community board meetings, community events and grass roots connections.
  • Expertly guide interested families through the application process in person, by phone or online demonstrating deep knowledge of Next Generation practices and processes.
  • Designs, develops and produces marketing information and materials.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and participates in events such as but not limited to, community events and programs, fundraisers and community meetings.
  • Collaboratively plans activities and programs, as well as offers presentations in areas designated as Nuasins targeted expansion areas.
  • Oversees the departments overall outreach effort and assists in establishing measurable performance goals in regard to community, political, elected, and recruitment outreach, as well as other stakeholders as identified by the Managing Director of Operations and the Community Outreach School Aide
  • Create and maintain a scholar application tracking system, ensuring to note and identify outreach areas by time and location to correlate data on productivity
  • Create, foster and keep warm -constituents in the target areas for support of Nuasins expansion efforts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Bilingual language skills preferred
  • A proactive, can do attitude.

  • A positive, authentic and responsive approach to building trust with targeted communities including children, parents, small business partners, elected officials, feeder schools, and staff

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines successfully
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Systems and Google Suite
