Network Connex is looking for an energetic team player who wants to learn about an exciting High-Tech growth industry. The primary responsibility is to support, “Out-Side Plant” OSP Field Inspection related to the construction and maintenance of fiber cable and wireless networks supporting our telecom clients. We will provide ongoing training to ensure the candidates success in the position described below.

• Valid Illinois Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Willingness to work hard and be trained to support the OSP Construction Team
• Capable of safely driving and operating a company vehicle
• Daily activities will consist of being in the field inspecting OSP construction activities
• Observing construction crews during fiber build process. Ensuring that construction crews are performing construction activities safely and in accordance to the required engineered specifications and project schedule.
• We will provide training to allow the Field Inspector to assist fiber splicing crews when needed by securing and providing the required project documentation, for circuit cut overs and end to end testing validation.
• We will provide training on all aspects of the Field Inspector Position. This would include completing an OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 Hour certification course including operational standards for working safely within the public “ROW” Right-Of-Way.

Telco Facility Walk Outs, Locating and Protection of Customer Underground Facilities:

• We will provide training for Validate that client facilities are locate properly prior to construction. Additional training will be provided which will allow the Field Inspector to understand as-built drawings, maps, atlas, etc. to assist in accurately locating multiple customers’ facilities. The training will help with identifying various utility locates including fiber, sewer, water, gas, electrical, etc., within the public right-of-way.

• Observation of construction and forward any conflicts that could cause harm or damage to the customers facility. Coordinate and provided on site watch and protects for the customers facility as needed.
• Some out of town travel could be required

Qualifications / Requirements:

• HS or AAS degree a plus, Valid Driver’s License, Mandatory / Radom Drug Testing is a requirement.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate MS Office (specifically Outlook Email and Excel).
• With specific training the ability to learn and use emerging technology tools as required to support capturing field data to include Smart GIS Tablets, Cable Locating Unit, and other industry fielding devices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities is a must
• Ability to work independently and provide timely field updates
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs using assist lift tools and proper safety training
