Overview

Our Client is hiring an enthusiastic, self-starting, problem solving and analytical Business Development Analyst. A successful candidate will own end-to-end on-boarding of vendor partners, including partnering with Category Managers to solidify an assortment strategy, sourcing new vendors, negotiating contract terms and ensuring all required documentation is received.
The Business Development team and the analyst’s primary function on that team is to execute the Category Manager’s business strategy for expanding the business’s selection size and diversity. Our objective is to make assortment a tractable problem, allowing Category Managers and Merch leadership to set strategic direction while removing the tax of execution. We support new assortment growth by offering resources and processes to aid in the vetting and onboarding of assortment priorities, abstract of fulfillment channel. The Analyst continues to serve as a vendor's main point of contact and support throughout onboarding until the vendor is launched and live on site. Our focus in this part of the process is to facilitate a seamless and successful setup for vendors and products, characterized by vendor training that results in success on site, fast turnaround times, and catalog content completeness. Continuity of contacts and building a strong relationship with new vendors from the start of our partnership will play a critical role in long-term vendor engagement and ultimately success . The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal & written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to analyze & communicate complex problems to internal and external stakeholders. A successful candidate can manage their time well, demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to business problems, and care genuinely about completing work accurately and completely. Responsibilities include:
  • Support and execute against the Merchant growth strategy for each category you support. Core responsibilities include maintaining alignment on assortment priorities with Category Managers. Members of the team demonstrate this by maintaining and sharing accurate and updated weekly pipeline reporting.
  • Act as the first line of defense for gating assortment opportunities based on good business judgment and available guidance from Category Managers.
  • Relentless and proactive outreach to vendors with brands and products that have been identified as assortment priorities by the Category Managers.
  • Provide daily support for brands of interest to get them trained, setup, and launched on as quickly as possible. Remain engaged with critical priority vendors to help with moving the vendor through each onboarding step quickly and smoothly.
  • Continue to provide Category Managers with accurate and meaningful weekly progress updates on critical vendors in onboarding.
  • Analysts on this team are responsible for partnering with their direct manager to understand and meet expectations of the role. This includes speaking up when expectations or direction is unclear to ensure everyone has the necessary support to be successful and feedback is happening in both directions.
  • Team members in this role should operate with a teaching and learning attitude, working with an open mind and genuine interest in both teaching and learning from and peers.
Required Skills & Experience
  • BS/BA degree.
  • Interest in eCommerce, buying, account management, product management, category management, consulting, analytics, finance or marketing.
  • Working collaboratively with other teams on projects that support other team and company’s overall goal of growing within the pet and pet parent eCommerce space.
  • Either 1-3 years' experience in relevant work and/or ability to demonstrate how past experiences and skills are transferable to the role.
  • Experience in Excel/SQL.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Ability to use both formal and informal influencing skills across cross-matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation.
  • Track record of taking ownership and driving results (projects, internships, or work experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to work & lead in a team environment.
