Job Overview
They are seeking a highly experienced Director of Quality to lead their quality assurance efforts in the aerospace defense sector. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in quality management, particularly in compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP standards and within the aerospace and defense industry, as well as a strong background in managing staff and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Director of Quality will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across all aspects of their operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality management systems in compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP standards.
  • Lead and mentor the quality assurance team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective execution of quality initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Manage supplier quality programs, including supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring, to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to identify and address quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports and metrics to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and customer requirements related to quality management.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement technology-driven solutions to improve quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.

Required Skill & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in quality management within the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of AS9100 and NADCAP standards.
  • Proven experience managing and leading quality teams in a matrix organization.
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for manual manufacturing improvements and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the quality of raw materials and components, as well as supplier quality management experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and achieving quality objectives.
