POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Physics Technician will work seamlessly with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure all safety protocols are being followed. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform radiation surveys as necessary and assist the RSO where required.
• Provide Radiation protection guidance to other members of the NRD staff as needed.
• Acquire knowledge of NRD, LLC’s licenses, permits and procedures.
• Assist the RSO in implementing the facility wide Health and Safety program and maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations and standards
• Familiar with the safe handling at radioactive materials and radioactive contamination control
• Use of hand held radiation survey and desktop counting equipment used in a Health Physics Laboratory
• Assist the RSO in implementing the radiation safety program

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates Degree with a Science based curriculum
• Proven oral and written communication and proofreading skills required. Must be detail orientated and proficient user of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in using office equipment such as computer, fax machines, printers, scanning machines, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work environment is consistent with that of typical counting laboratory and Radioactive materials manufacturing laboratory.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks daily
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and to stand or sit for long lengths of time with or without accommodation
• Ability to obtain respiratory protection qualification
