Work Schedule: Hybrid (Lorton, VA)
This role involves acting as a key advisor to the Chief Data Officer on developing and executing the DTRA Data Strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Keeping informed on IT-KT mission trends to advise leadership effectively.
- Participating in meetings and groups within the DoD and other organizations.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including combat commands, to understand their data needs.
- Creating comprehensive reports for leadership, including analysis, project updates, and strategic recommendations.
- Examining current systems and documenting data sources, technologies, and analytics tools.
- Setting standards for the organization's Data Catalog.
- Managing data-related coordination within the DoD and the Counter Threat Reduction (CTR) directorate.
- Leading pilot projects or proofs of concept for data analytics initiatives.
- Assisting in improving business processes within the directorate.
- Engaging with all stakeholders effectively.
- Performing other related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with over five years of related experience or a Master’s degree with over three years of related experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Must have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with the Data Management life cycle and experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Databricks.
- Proficiency in using Business Intelligence tools like Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or MicroStrategy.
- The ability to work well both as part of a team and independently.
- Must be proactive in learning new technologies and adept at solving problems.
- Strong focus on detail, with excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Prior experience working with the U.S. government on national security-related projects.
- Specific experience supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is preferred.
- A solid understanding of cloud technologies, data engineering/data science, and proficiency with various analytic tools.
