Summary: Responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of the plant equipment, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Works with Plant Engineer and external contractors to plan, assist and implement installation of new equipment or systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Maintenance Support
Repairs or replaces plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis,
Maintains industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools,
Moves, assembles, installs, or dismantles machinery,
Interprets schematic diagrams, blueprints, and sketches,
Analyzes plans for new equipment and maps out space to unpack and assemble,
Performs preventative maintenance activities as required,
Interacts directly with operations to ensure scheduled work can be completed,
Diagnose and trouble-shoot maintenance related issues, repairing or replacing components
Monitors reliability of equipment,
Knows and understands city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment, and work in a safe manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times,
Works a schedule that occasionally requires overtime or call-in as required,
Participates in plant turn-arounds,
Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
Environmental, Health & Safety
Participates in all health, safety and environmental programs; maintain self-awareness on safety issues and requirements and report any safety concerns immediately to the EH&S department,
Responsible for notifying management team of environmental, quality and production concerns, problems and opportunities,
Performs all tasks associated with Feed Safety/Quality, assigned or as needed, to meet internal and external requirements relating to the production of safe, quality feed products.
Education and Pertinent/Proven Experience. The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Experience: 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience with knowledge of maintenance procedures for pumps, valves, motors and conveyors preferred. Previous fabrication and welding experience required. Experience as Journeyman Millwright, Pipe Fitter or machine repair may be potential fit for this position. Also, a background in mobile equipment, heavy equipment is desirable.
Communications: Strong written and verbal capabilities required.
Organizational Skills: Skill and experience to establish and maintain process systems that are acceptable to management and regulatory agencies.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency with spreadsheet software and basic knowledge of word processing software plus experience both researching issues and accessing information on the Internet. Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System is a plus.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
This position operates in a process plant environment with strict safety, regulatory and conduct standards. The individual may be exposed to noise, heat and other elements in outdoor and indoor environments. While performing duties of this position, the individual may be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels and chemicals. Must be willing to work unscheduled shifts not limited to but including working on an on-call schedule and call ins when required. Specific physical requirements include:
Occasionally working in confined spaces,
Wearing proper respiratory protection,
Occasionally lifting weight up to 50#,
Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders,
Bending, twisting and turning while lifting weights up to 50#,
Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time,
Working at heights and temperatures from -20 to 100 degrees,
Standing for extended periods of time,
Working on elevated platforms and surfaces.
