Position Overview

Novelis Guthrie, KY has an exciting opportunity for a Storeroom Clerk! This position is responsible for maintaining the recycle plant storeroom and the integrity of data entered in the SAP ERP System. The quality of work in this position is critical as it directly impacts the plant’s reliability, production capability, and finances. This person must be able to understand and follow the procedures identified as necessary for accurate material and data handling and comply fully with Guthrie’s policies and procedures. The candidate must fulfill these responsibilities honestly and with integrity.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Follow all Novelis Guthrie Safety Values, EHS obligations, and Safety Absolutes
• Receive, store, and transport goods
• Enter goods receipts in SAP and scan packing slips
• Notify purchaser of goods arrival
• Sort and label all stock replacements
• Maintain accurate inventory to ensure efficient service levels and avoid overstock and stockouts
• Perform routine counts and corrections
• Run reorders and communicate with procurement on delayed items
• Aid in the assessment of min / max levels through usage data
• Verify item descriptions in SAP/Struxure
• Maintain storeroom organization and perform housekeeping tasks
• Ensure items remain in correct locations
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S
• Assist maintenance and operations in identifying, locating, and retrieving items
• Handle kitting process and procedures for planned maintenance
• Perform basic routine procedures to maintain quality of stocked items (ex. rotate motor shafts)

• Monitor, package, and set up Bills of Lading and notification to Procurement regarding rebuild/repairable items
• Manage disposal for various recycling programs throughout plant (ie: cardboard, toner cartridges, batteries, etc.)
• Actively support continuous improvement efforts in the storeroom and across the facility
  • Develop and implement improvements
  • Participate in WCM initiatives
• Remain flexible to preform other duties as assigned or as needed to support the team

Qualifications

Candidate Must Posses

• High school completion or GED
• A proven foundation and value for safety
• At least 3 years of work history/experience
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
• A high degree of organizational skill and attention to detail
• The ability to work effectively with a large volume of data
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strength in working as a team
• Patience and clear communication skills
• A willingness to work with and support a variety of “customers” both internal and external
• Flexibility to meet the demands of a changing work environment
• The ability to climb stairs and lift up to 40 pounds with some bending, twisting, and kneeling

Other Valued Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience
• Experience in warehousing and receiving
• Experience using SAP, particularly storeroom or receiving transactions
• Experience in operating mobile equipment, particularly forklifts
• Knowledge of Struxure or creating material masters
• Maintenance experience and/or familiarity with industrial machine components
• Experience navigating ETQ databases

Location Profile

Novelis’ Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie Kentucky approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville Tennessee and Hopkinsville Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line that will serve the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents.
