TITLE: Senior IT Engineer, Microsoft 365

LOCATION: Gaithersburg, Maryland or Remote

Summary of the Position:

Novavax is seeking a full-time Sr IT Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration features and functionality. They must exhibit tactical and strategic experience focused on driving adoption of Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies. S/he tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new and changing technologies. The Sr IT Engineer performs ongoing administration and account maintenance of the Microsoft 365 tenant, deploys new service offerings, resolves issues, and automates operations where possible. S/he acts as a technology champion to broaden Microsoft 365 adoption and match use cases to solutions.

The Sr IT Engineer for Microsoft 365 technologies reports to the Sr. Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations, as part of the IT Operations team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Be the Microsoft 365 champion, including Teams, SharePoint Online, One Drive, as well as Purview, Yammer, Stream, etc.
  • Be responsible for training content for new services or capabilities in Microsoft 365 and related collaboration technologies, such as MS phone system.
  • Stay abreast of changes and new releases to the Microsoft 365 suite, learning them and implementing as appropriate.
  • Work with business leads to champion M365 technologies and develop solutions to match use cases. Oversee data management implementation where it intersects with online platforms.

  • Ensure proper deployment, management, support, and training of existing and new Microsoft 365 service offerings.
  • Serve as a knowledge expert on Microsoft 365 applications, advising on best practices and third-party integrations.
  • Understand business goals and drivers and translate those into appropriate cloud tools and technologies.
  • Administer the Microsoft 365 portal and monitor service health and for alerts, status, etc.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents and support requests involving the Microsoft 365 suite of products in a timely manner.
  • Provide day-to-day MACs with respect to permissions changes, M365 groups, Teams, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to data retention policies while ensuring the availability of data for supporting e-Discovery requirements as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience implementing and supporting Microsoft 365 technologies, with particular focus on SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive for Business
  • Demonstrated expertise of the Microsoft 365 platform including advanced configuration, diagnostics, and implementation. SharePoint Online expert. Teams' expert. One Drive expert.
  • Be able to develop and improve processes for repeatable implementation, customization, and/or maintenance of Microsoft 365 offerings.
  • Expertise in core Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, Office suite (update rings, deployment, and usage), Office web apps, Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Microsoft server administration background, including Active Directory and Exchange.
  • Experience with authentication methods (Microsoft NPS, multi-factor authentication (MFA), device sign-on methods, manage authentication methods).
  • Experience with Enterprise Mobility features, including Intune/Device Manager (MDM), Azure Rights Management, Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with data governance, Information Rights Management (IRM), and Data Leak Prevention (DLP) practices and methodologies (Retention policies, data governance reports and dashboards, Information holds, import data in the Security and Compliance Center, manage inactive mailboxes) is a plus.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required with an ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in a team atmosphere required.
  • Effective time management skills and a demonstrated ability to work on and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Biotechnology work environment, including GxP processes.
  • Microsoft Certifications, such as Office 365 MCSA, MCSE.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture.
  • Six Sigma certification.
