What You'll Do:

The Advanced EMT provides high quality patient care and safe medical transport to sick and injured patients in all age groups, primarily in a non-emergent setting. Patient care will be consistent with approved treatment protocols. The Advanced EMT communicates and coordinates the patient’s care in an interdisciplinary model. This position is located at Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. This position will be required to attend its first 2 week orientation period in Wilmington, NC at NHRMC. 

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Successful completion of an approved Advanced EMT program (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017).
  • Licensure / Certifications:
    • Current North Carolina Advanced EMT (EMT-Intermediate prior to 2017).
    • BCLS required.
    • ACLS, PALS and ITLS or PHTLS preferred.
    • Current and valid driver’s license required and must meet the requirements of the medical center’s insurance carrier. Must meet general hospital driving requirements. Annual EVO education is required to drive during emergency situations.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one-year experience with a paid emergency services provider preferred.
    • Two years licensed driving experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates a BLS- or AEMT-level plan of care based on patient assessment and significant other input/data. Continuously reviews and revises plan as needed per patient’s condition. Maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Operates and maintains the vehicle in a safe, efficient manner, obeying all traffic laws. Properly inspects the vehicle and initiates appropriate actions based on inspections. Maintains ambulance in a continuous state of readiness.
  • Completes daily base duties as well as all mandatory education/training. Stays current with NHRMC and department specific communications (i.e. emails, staff meetings, communication boards, etc.)
  • Promotes team effort and unity when working with Communications Center, other members of NHRMC and external organizations.
  • Annually continues personal development to enhance practice and profession.
  • Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently, completing all paperwork within required time frames.
  • Will occasionally provide backup service to the Field Operations Division, which may include participation in the MCI plan.
  • May perform moderate or waived point of care testing per CLIA guidelines.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional behavior and performs proactive interventions which support the Mission, Vision and Values of NHRMC and this department.
  • Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
