Our multidisciplinary treatment teams are made up of highly experienced Resident Assistant (RA) who specialize in treating substance abuse and mental health disorders. We work together with each other, with clients, and with families to help people overcome their emotional roadblocks so they can live healthier, happier lives. Summary/Objective
Assists with milieu management under the direction of the RSDM or designated supervisor with specific emphasis on attendance, participation, and internalization of recovery process and assignments with the 12 Step Recovery process as implemented at Nova. Providing direction/redirection to clients regarding the structure of the program; modeling and supporting the client’s recovery process; and providing oral and written reports continually while on shift.
Essential Functions

1. Demonstrate competence in facilitating education and skills regarding the 12 Step recovery process, and the Nova approved curriculum by the ability to:
a. Creating an atmosphere of trust;
b. Utilizing effective listening skills;
c. Providing respectful confrontation of behavior, attitudes;
d. Identifying roadblocks to sobriety; and
e. Utilizing techniques appropriate to the age and/or special needs of client; and seeking counsel from the clinical team when warranted to address these needs.
f. Facilitate individual sessions around the approved Nova Curriculum and facilitate fifth steps in a timely manner, based on treatment team planning and clinical or recovery need.
2. Demonstrates competence in group education and facilitation by:
a. Utilizing effective listening skills;
b. Creating and maintaining group cohesiveness;
c. Utilizing group structure to focus on addiction issues and promote change;
d. Facilitating appropriate interaction between group members; and
e. Utilizing techniques appropriate to age and/or special needs of group members; and seeking counsel from the clinical team when warranted to address these needs.
3. Demonstrate competence in the use of information systems by the ability to:
a. Maintain skill levels appropriate for current duties;
b. Retrieve and send business related e-mails as needed;
c. Utilize network access appropriately as per policy;
d. Monitor client use of designated workstation as requested; and
e. Accurately document all pertinent information in the BestNotes system, or on the shift report as directed.
4. Demonstrates competence in communication by the ability to:
a. Maintain frequent contact with Shift Supervisor;
b. Notify RSDM of any unscheduled absence prior to scheduled shift as required by policy;
c. Interact with clients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner;
d. Preparing and distributing group attendance reports as required, and
e. Keep the RSDM/RSPOC and Primary Counselors informed of client behaviors and/or attitudes that could affect the client's treatment.
f. Participate in treatment team meeting as scheduled, to ensure comprehensive treatment.
5. Demonstrates competence in organization by the ability to:
a. Coordinate weekly speaker meetings;
b. Create Big Brother/Big Sister list;
c. Schedule client sessions in cooperation with clinical department’s scheduling needs;
d. Perform 30- and 60-day reviews for clients; and
e. Submit an updated tracking log weekly to the RSPOC/RSDM.
6. Demonstrate competence in the Safety Procedures of Nova Recovery LLC.
7. Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clients, staff, and any other information this position may be privy to.
8. Act as a representative of Nova Recovery LLC at work and in the community by representing a favorable image of the Company to all outside contacts with courteous and tactful behavior toward clients, visitors, and other staff.
9. Demonstrate ability to be a team player by offering solutions to problems identified by the leadership team.
10. Dress in an appropriate manner according to the dress code.
11. Able to work well under pressure.
12. Responsible for being at work, on time, per the established department schedule.
13. Practice in compliance with the Code of Ethical Conduct.
14. Complete required in-service training and continuing education within required timelines.
15. Comply with all applicable Nova Recovery LLC Policies and Procedures.
16. All other duties and/or special projects as assigned by Management.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position requires long periods of sitting, periodic standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. This position requires lifting and/or moving items up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and the hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:00 am until 5:30 pm or as scheduled by the RSDM. Must be available to work as needed including weekends and holidays.
Travel
Nova Recovery Center operates and cares for clients 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours per day at the Residential locations. This position is crucial to the care of Nova’s clients. As such, you may be required to travel to other Nova locations in the State of Texas. Refusal to travel to other Nova locations may be subject to disciplinary measures up to and including termination.
General Qualifications
Must have the ability to interact warmly and professionally with members while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Excellent oral, scheduling, and communication skills are required. Prior experience with Windows operating systems is required. Ability to be a self-starter with minimal supervision
