Nova Biomedical is Hiring a Supervisor, Formulation - First Shift Near Waltham, MA

Nova Biomedical is hiring a Supervisor to support our Formulation team on-site (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) in our Waltham, MA facility. This individual is responsible for all day-to-day activities of the Formulation operations within Reagent Manufacturing. This includes scheduling the formulation of solutions for calibrator packs, external standards, controls and miscellaneous reagents for Nova core and OEM products. Short term goals are to ensure timely solution formulation. Long term goals include continuous improvement of formulation operations and processes, utilizing resources such as R&D and Consumable Manufacturing Engineering. All Formulation personnel in Reagents Manufacturing will report to this individual. Other responsibilities include:
  • Manage the daily formulation schedules to deliver product on a timely basis so that demand for Finished Goods is met. This includes overtime control, minimal solution scraps, training of employees, labor utilization, cost reduction, SAP/chemical management, and productivity improvements.
  • Work closely with Master Scheduling, QC, R&D, Manufacturing Engineering and Purchasing to meet demand of customers and minimize raw material inventory.
  • Work with the Filling group on daily production schedule.
  • Work closely with vendors to improve quality and delivery.
  • Identify training needs within Formulation and coordinate the training of personnel to be of the highest talent level.
  • Manage all pilot requests from R&D and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ensure all Formulation equipment is adequately maintained and qualified for daily usage.
  • Review of formulation procedures prior to submitting to other Reagent groups.
  • Oversee all safety aspects in Formulation.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for employees reporting to this position, resolution of employee issues and enforcing of Nova personnel policies.
Qualifications
  • Good oral and written communication skills are a must.
  • Proficient with math
  • Working knowledge of Quality System Regulations (QSR).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Physical Demands:
    • Must be able to perform tasks that may involve for extended periods of time standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, turning, climbing steps and carrying up to 25 pounds several times/hours a day.
    • Require repetitive use of arms/wrist/hands while setting up/working with equipment/computer throughout the day.
    • Will require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may include, but not limited to, safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, bouffant, gloves, hearing protection, face shield, nuisance mask.
    • Must have good hand/eye coordination and visual acuity.
    • Must be able to distinguish colors.
Skills And Competencies
  • Good organization skills such as 5S
  • Must be proficient in computers and MS Office
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Working knowledge of Master Control
  • Familiar with FDA and TUV audits as well as customer external audits
  • Basic Knowledge of NCMR and MRB process.
  • Ability to obtain MA industrial wastewater certification Grade 2 or higher.
  • Working knowledge of reverse osmosis and wastewater systems, lyophilization, and sterilization procedures.
  • Positive attitude
  • Good interpersonal skills
Education/Experience
  • An associate degree or certification in a technical field is desired, or comparable accumulated experience in a similar manufacturing setting is acceptable.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a compounding/formulation or comparable environment is required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment is required.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing or comparable environment is required.
  • Prior RODI or similar purified water system experience is a plus.
  • Prior wastewater operation is a plus.
