Procurement Buyer
Location: Hopkinton, MA
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Procurement Buyer is responsible for all activities supporting Indirect goods and services for all aspects of the company including Corporate, Retail Operations, Construction, and Maintenance Divisions. This position will help implement and develop a buying strategy that identifies and purchases items that are both cost-efficient, and of high quality. This position will also maintain and nurture supplier relationships, evaluate sources of supply, process purchase orders, and maintain accurate records.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
· Support and help develop new business development opportunities.
· Manage procurement activities related to specific projects.
· Negotiate advantageous pricing for large-volume equipment purchases.
· Experience in buying (but not limited to) food & beverage equipment, walk-in coolers, refrigeration equipment, plumbing fixtures, kitchen smallware’s, and furniture.
· Develop strong, supporting business relationships with internal business units.
· Support the implementation of new inventory \ purchasing software.
· Create and implement a strategy for warehousing of long lead items.
· Analyze current sourcing strategies and identify process improvement opportunities.
· Identify and evaluate suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships.
· Negotiate with vendors to secure advantageous terms.
· Maintain process for non-saleable inventory control and keep accurate purchase and pricing records.
· Assist in performing and analyzing RFPs for all major projects.
· Track and report on key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
· Manage budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
· Negotiate and perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.
· Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in purchasing / procurement department in a related field.
· Working knowledge of retail industry and market conditions.
· Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
· Strong knowledge of supplier or third-party inventory management \ purchasing software
· Solid organizational and project management skills
· Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
· Experience in collecting and analyzing data
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Retail C-Store\Gas Station experience a plus
· Ability to travel occasionally to meet with suppliers or attend conferences
· Independent and creative thinker
· Coachable team player
· Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
