SUMMARY:
Notre Dame Junior-Senior High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish teacher to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. We are searching for an individual who is excited to inspire students to learn the Spanish language and explore the rich cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, all within the framework of our Catholic school mission. This is a part-time position with responsibilities including 6th-grade introductory Spanish, Spanish 1a (Grade 7), and Spanish 1b (Grade 8). The position can be full-time if the candidate is willing to travel to teach at our Elementary campus for half of the day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and state standards, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
· Integrate the Catholic faith into lessons and create a classroom environment that fosters spiritual growth and service to others.
· Utilize creative and differentiated teaching methods to cater to the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
· Assess student progress through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provide regular feedback to support growth.
· Collaborate with other Spanish teachers, grade-level teams, and specialists to ensure curriculum alignment and a cohesive learning experience.
· Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and integrate technology into lessons effectively.
· Contribute to the school community by attending meetings, participating in school events, and serving as a positive role model for students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Spanish Education or a related field, with a valid state teaching credential (Master’s in Education preferred).
· Two years of experience teaching Spanish to middle school students preferred.
· Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
· Strong understanding of curriculum development, differentiated instruction, and assessment practices.
· Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student development.
· Commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of the school.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
· The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Catholic education and a proven track record of success in student discipline, academic progress, and assessment coordination.
· Candidates in the process of New York State certification will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Must possess or receive diocesan safe environment training within 30 days of hire.
