SUMMARY:
Notre Dame Junior-Senior High School is seeking a passionate and engaging Social Studies teacher to join our dedicated faculty and inspire students to dive into the depths of World History. As part of our vibrant Catholic community, you'll craft dynamic lessons that foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of our world's diverse cultures and past events.
This is a full-time position with responsibilities including 8th-grade American History, Global Studies 1 & 2.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop and deliver stimulating and effective World History lessons aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum, covering historical periods from ancient civilizations to the contemporary world.
· Integrate Catholic values and ethical considerations into your curriculum, encouraging students to analyze historical events through a faith-based lens.
· Employ diverse teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, simulations, project-based learning, and technology integration, to cater to various learning styles and interests.
· Design and administer formative and summative assessments to gauge student progress and provide meaningful feedback for improvement.
· Collaborate with fellow Social Studies teachers and other departments to ensure curriculum alignment and a cohesive learning experience for students.
· Stay abreast of current research and best practices in Social Studies education through professional development activities.
· Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respectful dialogue, critical thinking, and active participation.
· Actively contribute to the school community by attending meetings, participating in school events, and serving as a positive role model for students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in History, with a valid state teaching credential (Master’s in Education preferred).
· Two years of experience teaching social studies to high school students preferred.
· Strong understanding of curriculum development, differentiated instruction, and assessment practices.
· Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student development.
· Commitment to the Catholic faith and the mission of the school.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
· The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Catholic education and a proven track record of success in student discipline, academic progress, and assessment coordination.
· Candidates in the process of New York State certification will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Must possess or receive diocesan safe environment training within 30 days of hire.

Pay: $31,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
