Role and Responsibilities
The Technology Intern will provide user support and stakeholders service on supported computer applications and platforms, troubleshoot problems and advise on the appropriate action. Other responsibilities include collecting and entering data in databases and maintaining accurate records of valuable district information. Our ideal candidate has strong technical skills and understands data manipulation with a focus on Excel. Programming ability using current methods like PowerShell and PowerBI are desirable. Candidate should also have a working knowledge of Google and Microsoft environments. These positions will report to supervisors of various data and technology systems for the Norwalk Public Schools. Ultimately, a successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date, and usable information in our systems.
Respond to emails from employees and stakeholders seeking help with software- or computer-related issues.
Respond to inquiries in a timely manner regarding software systems, or technology issues.
Learn the functions of our software program so you can walk users through the steps to achieve specific goals.
Support site level and organizational staff
Aid the development team in conceptualizing updates and upgrades that will enhance users' experience.
Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, chat or email.
Research questions using available information resources.
Advise users on appropriate action.
Follow standard help desk procedures.
Log all help desk interactions.
Follow up with stakeholders and users to ensure complete resolution of issues.
Redirect problems to correct resource.
Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions
Inform management of recurring problems.
Stay current with system information, changes and updates.
Train computer users as necessary
Manage Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
Escalate issues to the next Tier#2 with next level of difficulty.
Follow-up with stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved.
Review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities if possible and check output.
Generate reports, store completed work in designated locations and perform backup operations.
Keep information confidential.
Comply with data integrity and security policies.
Ensure proper use of office equipment and address any malfunctions
Qualifications/Certificates:
Enrolled in associate degree or a minimum of one years' experience in IT related field.
Excellent stakeholders service skills
Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills
Bilingual a plus
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with MS Office
Familiarity with administrative duties
Experience using office equipment, like fax machine and scanner.
Typing accuracy
Excellent knowledge of correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation
