Norton & Associates, a temporary staffing agency, is currently looking for s Paraprofessional/Teacher's Aide to work at an elementary school OR middle school in Burlington, MA.

Approximate Schedule:

M-F 7:15 AM to 2:15 PM

Pay Rate:
$20/HR

Please note that we are a temporary staffing agency so there are no benefits, but the school can hire you directly after a trial period working through Norton and you would then be offered benefits through the school (this is usually 3 months).

Job Details:

The students you will be working with have severe developmental delays, neurological impairments, and/or significant medical challenges. Candidates need to be willing to support all toileting and feeding needs (including changing diapers). This is a very physically active setting so candidates also need to be able to lift (up to 50 lbs), bend, stand, get up and down off of the floor, support student into and out of equipment, etc.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Responsible to and functions under the direction of the Classroom Teacher.
• Must be comfortable working with the students in and out of the classroom. Help students focus on their work and use their emotional regulation skills. Go to the gym with students, take students to the nurse, walk with students outdoors, etc.
• Assists the teacher in the delivery of instruction, collection of data, and the implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
• Ensures the safety of the children in all environments. Assists in facilitating independence, social awareness, language, and appropriate behavior.
• Provides academic support to student(s). Carries out other assigned duties when needed, such as supervising student(s) at lunch, etc.

For Special Education school/programs:

Qualifications: Experience with the use of therapeutic strategies (de-escalation, trauma-informed, CBT, ABA, restorative justice) preferred. A minimum of 3 years experience preferred. Prior experience working with students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Prior experience implementing behavioral strategies, supports, and data collection. Effective oral and written communication.

Responsibilities may include: Supporting academic programs, behavior plans, collecting data and logging data daily or weekly. The ideal candidate will be reliable and well organized with sound judgment. Experience with de-escalation, trauma-informed principles, CBT, restorative justice, behavior plans, and collecting a variety of data.
