Works under moderate supervision and performs recurring assignments independently. Performs cleaning duties for the purpose of maintaining a sanitized, safe, and clean healthcare environment for patients ranging in ages from newborn to 100 years of age. Selects and applies appropriate cleaning procedures from established guidelines. Primary duties are to disinfect discharge rooms in a time driven environment to promote positive patient satisfaction scores. Work load is designated by the EVS Discharge Specialist II (when available). Duties are routine in nature and performed on a regular schedule. Environmental Services Specialists are responsible for removing several varieties of waste from the facility.

This position is distinguished from the EVS Specialist in that this position requires a higher skill level that is needed to maintain the time driven work flow. Must have high school diploma or GED, and working knowledge of EVS and hospital policies and procedures, proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques and the uses of a variety of cleaning and sanitary agents available in the EVS department. Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions, work and cooperate with peers and maintain a good relationship with patients, visitors and other staff.
