Norton Healthcare is Hiring a House Supervisor, PRN Near Madison, IN

Responsibilities

Working under minimal supervision, assumes responsibility for implementation and coordination of safe and therapeutically effective patient care in all areas of the hospital in the absence of department leadership, Vice Presidents, and President/CEO usually on nights, weekends, and holidays with guidance from the Administrator On Call. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Exemplifies and promotes professional nursing practice and serves as a resource, mentor, and role model to all staff when department leadership is not available
  • Ensures compliance and adherence with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for appropriate placement of patients, provision of adequate nursing staff, and compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Promotes and models excellence in customer service, taking appropriate action to address customer concerns and complaints
  • Facilitates communication with physicians and staff of other departments
  • Takes appropriate action to coach employees and correct unacceptable communication/behavior as needed
  • Assists the Clinical Nurse Educator in identifying and assisting with training and educational development needs of nursing staff
  • Rounds throughout the hospital to monitor quality of patient care, safety, and ensure work areas are clean and orderly
  • Utilizes proper technique when lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients for patient and staff safety
  • Presents calm demeanor for staff in crisis situations. Flexible, prioritizes, and adapts in all situations
  • Utilizes excellent customer service standards and Studer principles in communicating with patient, family, and coworkers through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions as well as pleasant voice tone
  • Meets all RN General Summary requirements in order to provide patient care as needed
  • May be asked to assist with patient care in any area of the hospital, as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of registered nursing program
  • Possessing and maintaining Indiana RN licensure; clinical nursing experience in hospital setting.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, as well as, to react quickly, appropriately, and efficiently in any situation
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, as well as, human and psycho‑social needs, commitment to patient centered care, and ability to apply to patient care situations across the continuum: newborn through geriatrics and ability to relate this knowledge to assist other nursing personnel in meeting individual patient needs
  • Demonstrates leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills in working relationships and during delivery of care
  • Possesses excellent problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and nursing judgment
  • Calmly and confidently handles highly stressful situations
  • Energetic and motivated
  • Excellent oral communication skills to discuss patient care needs
  • Excellent non-verbal communication skills (presence, touch, eye contact, etc.) with patients, families and other staff
  • Written communication skills, as well as, computer skills
  • Demonstrates accountability for own actions, understands own limitations, seeks advice and assistance when necessary, and assume responsibility for personal growth and skill development
  • Maintains AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP
