Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the ELL Coordinator provides the development, coordination, and support of curriculum, instruction, testing/assessment, and professional learning, as well as management of ELL Program protocols and procedures. The ELL Coordinator supervises other team members and coordinate service delivery and assist teachers with individualizing instruction for EL students. The ELL Coordinator will work together creatively with the Special Education team to accommodate special needs, diversity and educational backgrounds of the students; and overcome instructional challenges constructively. The ELL Coordinator is a hardworking, goal-oriented and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of PA State and Common Core Standards.
Essential Accountabilities:
● Stay up to date on PDE regulations, policies, and guidance for ELD.
● Supervise the ELL student enrollment process.
● Coordinate, facilitate and administer the WIDA Screener and WIDA ACCESS testing.
● Manage and coordinate interpreters for IEP Meeting, daily communication and parent-teacher meetings and report card conferences.
● Oversee and evaluate the overall ELL Program and Curriculum as well as the in-classroom program coordination.
● Assist the Special Education Team in coordination efforts and evaluation of students to meet their needs within the classroom around ELL services.
● Collaborate with classroom content teachers to ensure that content is made accessible to ELs and to monitor the progress of ELs in content classes.
● Coordinate schedules with classroom content teachers so that adequate time is provided for ELD instruction.
● Coordinate reclassification (exit process) of ELL students and oversee monitoring of the reclassified students.
● Work with the Compliance Coordinator to ensure ELL student information is accurate and updated in a timely fashion in our in-house student information system, the School District of Philadelphia student information system and for PA State Reporting.
● Providing for adequate professional development as part of the Professional Development Act 48 Plan to ensure that all staff working with ELs are properly trained according to their role to implement supports that overcome language barriers.
● Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree
● Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate with ELL certification
● Minimum 3-5 years of experience teaching elementary and secondary levels preferred
● Experience of working within or with an urban school/educational setting, a plus.

● Excellent organization skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities.
● Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
● An ability to promote the school and its mission to a broad and diverse group of people.
● Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to perform tasks assigned.
● Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and teachers in school environment and community.
● Must pass background check.
Working Conditions: Work is regularly performed within the school environment. Some afterschool and weekend events may occur where attendance is required. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending on the activity in the particular part of the day.
Physical Requirements: Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 30 lbs. Able to work around cleaning products. Able to perform tasks outside as required.
