Northwest Vision Institute, PLLC is Hiring an Optometric Technician Near Kirkland, WA

We have a position open for an individual who has the motivation to move forward in a worth while career. You must be self-motivated, feel efficient, accurate with your work, and welcome the challenges of problem solving within a multitasking environment. The position requires critical and active thinking, and a desire to troubleshoot and problem-solve.

Experience is preferred but with a great attitude and willingness to learn we are willing to train the right person and lots of room for advancement. Salary adjusted based on years of experience.

Due to the nature of working directly with patients, experience in customer service is welcome. It is expected for our staff to have great bedside manner to be able to interact with patients pleasantly on a daily basis.

We are open Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM and NO weekends.

As an Optometric Assistant in our fast paced clinic, you will provide assistance to Ophthalmologists/Optometrists by performing clinical and administrative duties required to most effectively handle the day-to-day functioning of their practices.

  • Greet and room patient. Complete patient work-up, including collection of history and chart information such as chief complaint, medications, and allergies. Perform testing of vision and neutralizing of spectacles.
  • Ensure the EMR is properly completed and ready for data entry. Take intraocular pressure by applanation and perform refractometry. May perform additional tests including, but not limited to: Visual Fields, Pachymetry, Corneal Topography, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and Fundus Photography.
  • May assist physician with in-office procedures, as appropriate and in accordance with incumbent’s training. Administer ocular medications as prescribed by the physician. Educate patients as necessary or requested.
  • Provide patient counseling regarding proper use of medication and services provided. As needed, distributes approved pre and post-op guidelines.
  • Perform telephone triage to assess urgent versus emergent needs and create schedules to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Restock and clean exam rooms after patient care. Close rooms at end of patient schedule.

Required Credentials:

  • Medical Assistant – Registered designation by Washington Department of Health (DOH) must be obtained within 2 months of employment (organized by Practice)
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred but not required, WILLING to train the right individual
