Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5 is Hiring a Migrant Summer Campus-Based Teacher's Aide - Franklin County Near Chambersburg, PA

**The IU5 Migrant Education Program is looking for teacher's aides for this year's Franklin County Summer School of Excellence at Benjamin Chambers Elementary School, Chambersburg. Candidates should be available for Onboarding and In-Service June 10-14, 2024. The Summer School will take place June 17-27, 2024, Monday - Thursday.

Position Summary:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5's Migrant Education Program is seeking teacher aides for a campus-based summer school program. Teacher aides will provide daily on-site support to teachers of Migratory/English Language Learner students and accompany them during educational activities. The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to make a lasting impact with diverse students! The part-time, contracted position reports to the Migrant Student Support Specialists and Program Supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Required state clearances to work with students
  • Reliable transportation to and from the summer campus location

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience working with migratory students and/or English Language Learners

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily on-site support to summer school teachers and students
  • Accompany students during educational activities
  • Help teachers create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Differentiate support to meet the needs and abilities of individual students
  • Implement and enforce all policies and rules
  • Participate in required professional development at the summer school in-service training
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, teachers, partners, coordinators, and supervisors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization

Work Environment:

This job operates in various locations. Incumbent must have the ability to support teachers in monitoring students and checking work in classrooms with a variety of seating and desk organization. Candidate is required to have reliable transportation to arrive on time to the summer school location.
