Position:
Computer Support Specialist

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to computer users. Troubleshooting desktop computer,
applications and networking problems, communicate solutions, and educate users about the latest technologies.
Responsible for the daily administration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
1. Ensures end users computer equipment and peripherals are operational.
2. Provides ongoing daily technical support to systems users.
3. Installs, maintains, and supports desktop computers, peripherals, desktop applications and network connectivity.
4. Performs testing and diagnostics to confirm reliable hardware, operating system functionality and file system integrity.
5. Assists with the research, evaluation, and testing of new hardware and software technologies to meet business and
operational goals and objectives within the NWTH environment.
6. Assists in research and development activities dedicated toward the provision of standardized desktop hardware,
software, and support services.
7. Provides technical assistance and support as part of a workgroup responsible for the development, deployment, and
maintenance of standard desktop images and software distribution packages.
8. Provides assistance to workgroups responsible for a wide variety of technical projects.
9. Properly documents all activities through the Help Desk system to include actual work performed and any changes
to hardware and/or software.
10. Configures user access and troubleshoot network printing services. Installs, configures and maintains print servers.
Assists in the maintenance of equipment and/or spare parts inventory and the proper documentation of such.
11. Assists with the assessment, planning, and implementation of department moves and special projects.
12. Contributes written procedural documentation necessary to build a rich IT knowledge-base.
13. Provides backup support for the Help Desk when required.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
15. Maintains a professional image and reflects the department and hospital’s philosophy of excellence and
professionalism in customer service while directly performing the job and at all times while representing the
department and the hospital.
16. Follows NWTH compliance programs and federal and state regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:
Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 High school diploma
 Experience using a Help Desk trouble ticketing system
 Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading and writing
 Experience working with others as part of a technical team, with participation in special projects that may not be related to standard desktop support duties and responsibilities
 Experience performing job duties and assignments with little supervision, functioning independently as part of the team
 Experience in supporting desktop computers/peripherals in a Microsoft networked environment
 Hands-on experience configuring, installing, and managing print servers, and network fax/scanner/copier devices
 Experience supporting desktop applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office
 Strong knowledge of Windows 7/10 operating systems
WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF:
 Networking protocols (Ethernet and TCP/IP) and networking equipment such as routers, switches, terminal servers, etc.
 Peripheral devices such as scanners, printers, modems, Smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other wireless devices
 Microsoft Active Directory

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
1. Ability to read, write, and converse in English.
2. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others.
3. Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.
4. Ability to respond to pages, telephones, and other auditory stimulation.
5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
6. Bending and lifting (10-70 lbs), grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, prolonged standing and/or sitting.
7. Must be able to tolerate occasional long hours and occasional loud noise.

1. Personal Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers; both utilization and configuration as necessary
2. Basic knowledge of all computer equipment utilized in MIS
