NURSE RESIDENT - VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS

Northwest Specialty Hospital has launched a robust Nurse Residency Program!

This cohort, we will have full-time or part-time positions available in the Operating Room and our Post Surgical/Inpatient Unit! We anticipate this cohort starting end of July (pending board issuing nursing licenses)

The Nurse Resident works under the direct supervision of an experienced RN preceptor. The nurse resident is a licensed RN and is provided a variety of additional opportunities in which to strengthen their knowledge and skill in the practice of nursing through a work-learn environment.

The Nurse Residency Program at Northwest Specialty Hospital is a 12-month program designed to support recent nursing graduates as they transition into their first nursing role. The Nurse Residency Program will provide education, support, and guidance to new nurses as they begin their careers in NWSH. Over the course of a year, you will be provided with extensive clinical orientation, specialty skill development, and professional development. Northwest Specialty Hospital is committed to providing Nurse Residents with the training, mentoring, and experience needed for a successful lifelong career in nursing. The program consists of a series of work and learning experiences that emphasize and develop the clinical skills necessary for the advanced beginner nurse to become a successful part of the interprofessional health care team.

As a New Graduate at Northwest Specialty Hospital, you will be hired into a robust and customized Nurse Residency Program. You can apply for the residency program prior to graduating and all applications will be accepted and reviewed for eligibility. Candidates who meet eligibility will be considered for interviews prior to passing NCLEX. Candidates selected for hire will have a start date pending successful completion of the NCLEX and issuing of Idaho Nursing License.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

  • Current licensure in the State of Idaho
  • Must have active BLS
  • ACLS certification within six months of employment (NWSH will provide)
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
  • Is aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with them.
  • Less than 6 months of nursing experience.

About the departments participating in this cohort:

Post Surgical/Inpatient Unit:

Our Post Surgical/Inpatient Unit is a fast paced environment where nurses care for a variety of post-surgical patients. The unit is 32 beds and the typical patient to nurse ratio is 4:1, but can vary based on department needs. Nurse on this unit will utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care. Individuals in this role perform such duties as delegating nursing assignments, preparing schedules, overseeing admissions and discharges, and monitoring and ordering medicines and supplies.

Operating Room:

Our hospital has 8 operating rooms, 3 procedure rooms, and 32 inpatient beds. We perform surgeries in a variety of specialties such as Ortho, Spine, Gynecological, ENT, Plastics, Digestive, Bariatric, and General Surgery. Our surgery schedule generally runs Monday-Friday and call for our OR staff is minimal. The Circulator RN will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of all surgical patients. The OR Circulator RN will assess and anticipate the needs of surgeons, manage operating room suites in accordance with AORN guidelines in regards to patient safety, properly conduct documentation, and high provide quality patient care. This position requires strong OR knowledge and skills to serve as a supportive member of the surgical services team.
