Northwest R-1 School District is Hiring a Custodian Near Springs, MO

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in the efficient operation of the custodial department to project a positive image of the Northwest R-I School District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Additional duties may be assigned.

Daily

  1. Police grounds (when instructed)
  2. Clean and prepare area before and after any activity, as required
  3. Clean classrooms
    1. Clean classroom door window
    2. Clean chalkboard, white boards and trays (all come off unless noted)
    3. Empty pencil sharpener (electric included)
    4. Empty trash cans (replace liners)
    5. Dust ledges, window sills, furniture, and any flat surfaces
    6. Spot clean desktops
    7. Dust mop tile areas and vacuum any carpets in rooms
    8. Vacuum any rooms that are completely carpet
    9. Spot mop classrooms
    10. Check windows, turn off lights, lock doors
  4. Clean Hallways
    1. Dust locker tops, fire extinguisher cabinets, any permanent fixtures on walls, coat racks, etc.
    2. Sweep hallways - edges, corners, behind doors
    3. Mop hall completely - edges, behind doors and corners. Run the machine over the hall.
  5. Clean Restrooms
    1. Dust partitions, vents, hand dryers
    2. Sweep floor
    3. Sanitize sinks and fixtures - wipe down completely
    4. Sanitize toilets and urinals completely - top to bottom
    5. Remove graffiti
    6. Check paper products and stock supplies, as needed (soap, toilet paper, and paper towels)
    7. Empty trash
    8. Mop floors
    9. Power spray any restroom, as scheduled
  6. Perform duties as required by principals or supervisors.

Weekly

  1. Clean all student desktops completely
  2. Mop all classrooms completely
  3. Power spray all restrooms (schedule)
  4. Dust all classrooms 

All employees must report their absences to their immediate supervisor prior to their scheduled shift.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. Preferred prior experience in a school setting

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  1. Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with all aspects of the school community is required.
  2. Ability to solve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and remain open to various ideas and viewpoints.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and district.
  2. Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Excellent human relations skills
  1. Ability to work independently
  2. Demonstrate organizational skills
  3. Familiar with facility operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee will regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as, to lift files, papers, and equipment. The foregoing is not an exclusive list and the employee may be required to exceed the minimum physical demand specifications should the safety and security of students and staff be compromised.
