NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE is Hiring a Practical Nursing Instructor Near Senatobia, MS

The Practical Nursing Instructor is a day faculty position at the Senatobia Campus for the Practical Nursing Program. The Instructor provides students with instruction of the highest standards, evaluate student progress, assist in preparation of program documents and policies, assist in activities furthering the work of the institution, communicate necessary information to students, provide academic advice to students, serve on standing and ad hoc committees, and assist in maintaining the uniformity of the Practical Nursing program on all campuses. This is a 12-month Faculty position reporting to the Director of Practical Nursing.

Qualifications 

Must be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing. Must have an unencumbered RN license in Mississippi and must: 

  1. Hold a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing. 
  2. Have three years clinical experience working as a RN; or have two years' experience as faculty in a nursing/allied health program. 
  3. Satisfy clinical agency requirements, i.e.: background checks, immunizations, CPR, etc. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Maintain health care specific requirements such as CPR certification, TB skin tests, and criminal background checks to satisfy the requirements of affiliated clinical agencies. 
  2. Provide competent instruction in the clinical and theoretical areas of nursing. 
  3. Maintain high standards and promote excellence in education. 
  4. Participate in and contribute to the team-teaching of classroom and clinical courses and model team- enhancing behavior for students. 
  5. Serve as a role model for students in professional interaction with other health workers and with clinical facilities. 
  6. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area hospitals, clinics, business, industries, and agencies. 
  7. Assist in scheduling and confirming use of clinical sites. 
  8. Assist in scheduling curriculum content and classroom scheduling. 
  9. Maintain relationships with clinical sites and professional peers that support the reputation of the college and Practical Nursing Program. 
  10. Practice in professional development activities that support evidenced- based practice in the classroom and clinical setting. 
  11. Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work, in meeting classes, and in keeping office hours. 
  12. Collect, record, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grades, absences, withdrawal and/or class drop information to appropriate offices. 
  13. Maintain attendance records for clinical groups and for classes taught. 
  14. Provide advice to the Lead Instructor, Practical Nursing Director and the Dean of Health Sciences on matters pertaining to the instructional program. 
  15. Provide advice to the Lead Instructor and Practical Nursing Director to insure the uniformity of the Practical Nursing Program on all Campuses. 
  16. Serve on College, Division and Nursing Staff committees as needed. 
  17. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to instructional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria. 
  18. Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials such as those used in academic administration when requested, including course syllabi program outlines, articulation, and bulletin materials. 
  19. Participate in scheduled in-service activities. 
  20. Promote student development through enrichment and mentoring experiences. 
  21. Serve as academic advisors and mentors. 
  22. Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outline in the College Bulletin, Policy Manual, Faculty Handbook, and Practical Nursing Program Student Handbook and follow such policies and procedures. 
  23. Perform all other professional duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences, PN Director, or other administrative personnel.
