Northwest Health Services Inc is Hiring a Dental Insurance Eligibility Specialist Near Saint Joseph, MO

Described Duties:
1. Work cooperatively with Northwest Health Services (NHS) providers and personnel to carry out the goals and objectives of NHS according, to governing body requirements and established internal policies and procedures.
2. Treat others respectfully whether it is a patient, fellow employee, member of management, customer, vendor or visitor to our premises.
3. Check insurance portals day of appointment to see if patients are eligible for scheduled appointments
4. Verify service history to determine if patient is eligible to have scheduled services completed
5. Notify team if scheduled services will not be covered and create a waiver to be presented to patient/guardian prior to patient being seated.
6. Contacting insurances companies to verify available benefits, get a breakdown of benefits, and scan copy of completed breakdown into the patient’s dental chart.
7. Ensure all services needing waivers are signed same day to minimize write-offs.
8. Assist in submission of pre-authorizations with necessary attachments either by portal or through NextGen software with NEA attachments.
9. Work collaboratively with the dental director, dental manager, and staff.
10. Assist patient and NHS staff with billing questions and/or concerns.
11. Work aging reports weekly.
12. Handle all correspondence from all payers for additional information.
13. Assist in training NHS’ support staff in areas relating to insurance.
14. Must comply with the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996.
15. Perform related work as required.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Must be able to talk, see, hear, react, stand, kneel, walk and sit for long periods of time.
2. Must speak concisely with a pleasant phone voice; demonstrate tact, patience and good communications skills in dealing with patients and staff.
3. Possess cognitive skills necessary to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral or written form.
4. Must demonstrate tact patience and good communication skills.
5. Must respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
6. Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
7. Attend appropriate training, including travel to required education seminars related to job description.
1. Possess high school diploma and/or equivalent.
2. Dental Insurance experience preferred.
3. Must possess ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, and other individuals encountered in the course of employment.
4. Must demonstrate basic computer skills.
5. Possess light typing skills. Must demonstrate accuracy, proficiency, and efficiency.
6. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and proof of insurance for personal vehicle used for business.
7. Must possess dental terminology knowledge.
8. Prefer dental assistant experience.
