Job Title: Cytotechnologist

Department: Cytology

Location: Fayetteville, AR

Terms: Full-time, (initial 90 day probationary period)

Shift: Days

Reports To: Cytology Supervisor

Job Duties:

1. Microscopically examine and diagnose gynecologic slides for infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant disease processes.

2. Perform all duties as required by CLIA. These duties include, but are not limited to, the daily documenting of interpretations to include the total number of slides screened and the total number of hours spent screening per 24 hour period.

3. Report results into the laboratory information system.

4. Adhere to and document required quality assurance and quality control activities (perform stain checks, non-gyn malignancy/cellular assessments, 5 year retrospective reviews, QC other Cytotechnologists).

5. Comply with all local, federal, HIPAA, CLIA and CAP regulations.

6. Participate in required competency assessment.

7. Successfully complete proficiency-testing annually.

8. Maintain continuing education hours.

9. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, administration, or Medical Director.

1. Excellent attention to detail and possess the ability to handle multiple tasks.

2. Discern alpha-numeric sequences.

3. Ability to problem solve, prioritize work, and adapt to daily workflow adjustments.

4. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, pathologists, and administration.

5. Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

6. Ability to lift 20 pounds.

7. Participate in color-vision assessment.

Qualifications:

1. ASCP certification

2. Liquid-based cytology training/certification, Thin Prep preferred.

3. Non-gyn specimen processing experience
