The incumbent is responsible for teaching Adult Education ESL/Civics/Citizenship classes in a variety of formats (classrooms, learning labs, online) and subject areas; on flexible schedules (days, evenings, during and between semesters) and recruiting students. The instructor will plan, organize and coordinate instruction, participate in professional development, provide guidance and direction to students, participate in program activities and initiatives, and other duties as assigned. Instructors will work forty hours per week with thirty- two hours being direct instruction.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and implement curriculum for ESL, Civics and Citizenship.
  • Provide instruction utilizing various modalities (Hy-Flex; Remote Synchronous; Remote Hybrid; Online).
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Disseminate information about the program to individuals, area school districts, referral agencies, industries, and community organizations.
  • Implement the Arkansas Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy (WAGE) program in ELL classes.
  • Assist with the student registration and assessment process.
  • Prepare and monitor student data reports related to the instructional area. Participate in in-service training and meetings for faculty and staff.
  • Complete the required training in Assessment, Learning Disabilities, LACES, and other workshops as determined by the Arkansas Department of Career Education.
  • Complete the TABE and TABE CLAS-E student assessment and class placement training.
  • Administer assessments, score assessments, interpret results for students, and use the results to provide individualized instruction.
  • Enter, review, and manage data in LACES.
  • Develop and maintain a community resource network.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Rate of pay:determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)

  • Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to
  • campus academic and social programs.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs.
  • Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations.
  • Ability to compile information into report form.

Education Experience

Bachelor's degree, (Master's degree or five years teaching experience preferred); must hold a current Arkansas Department of Education Teacher Certificate and obtain Adult Education endorsement within three years of being hired fulltime. ESL Certification preferred.
