As a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Officer, your role will be critical in managing and directing multiple claims/jobs, supervising lead technicians and superintendents at each project site, and collaborating with other departments within the company as necessary.

The role of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) is critical in our daily operations as we deal with safety every day. EHS professionals ensure employees are not exposed to hazardous materials, provide personal protective equipment, training on proper handling procedures, and implement safety procedures to create a working environment that adheres to safety regulations.

Primary Duties:

  • Work under the direction of the Branch Manager of Health and Safety to ensure consistent implementation of Company’s Safety Policies across area of responsibility
  • Foster adherence to a behavior-based safety culture (Target Zero) in which every incident is viewed as preventable through education and ownership
  • Provide clear leadership and foster a culture of safety
  • Meet clients to present our safety record and philosophy at the preconstruction phase and to review safety practices once work has begun
  • Perform, and ensure performance by others, of project site safety audits – documenting compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and company policies
  • Take actions necessary to correct deficiencies in audit findings, including effective follow through and communication
  • Research and author safety documents, including safety plans, fall protection plans, pre-task hazard analysis, personal monitoring etc. Communicate those plans internally and follow through to ensure implementation.
  • Perform in-depth incident investigations and take a leading role in post-incident reviews
  • Work with National Claims Department to manage claims reporting paperwork for incidents inside area of operations
  • Perform on-site and off-site training, maintaining accurate records
  • Maintain certifications, qualification, and industry knowledge necessary for the position
  • Assist in the maintenance of injury tracking spreadsheets, including the OSHA 300/300A logs
  • Ensure training, certification and medical monitoring records are compliant

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent qualifications, and 2 years of Safety experience

Relevant Experience

  • Prefer Construction Experience
  • Construction Safety leadership roles demonstrating increasing responsibility over time
  • OSHA Training

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proven ability to successfully interact with a range of audiences including corporate executives, clients, superintendents, and craft workers
  • Experience working in an environment with multiple reporting channels (for example, Corporate Safety Department and local Senior Leaders)
  • Experience overseeing multiple safety officers in multiple locations at the same time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills, able to build consensus
  • Good computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Extensive working knowledge of relevant State and Federal regulations
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, manage time, and delegate responsibility
  • Familiarity with demolition and/or hazardous material abatement preferred
  • Respond to emergencies in area of responsibility

Compensation:

Dependent on experience

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
