Job Summary

The Compliance Specialist will assist in maintaining NorthStar’s Compliance and Privacy Program in accordance with state and federal law. This person will ensure advisors and their teams are in compliance with NorthStar’s policies and procedures.

What you will do in this role

  • Responsible for tracking and first level follow up for new hire/annual/specialized compliance and provider documentation training.
  • Perform monthly sanction and exclusion checks on all employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Assist CPD with compliance incident investigations.
  • Responsible for compliance action line posters to ensure each facility and office have them displayed.
  • Perform research of various compliance topics and provide summaries as requested.
  • Assist CPD and CAD in creating and maintaining dashboards of compliance metrics.
  • Utilize Adobe Acrobat Pro edit anesthesia record forms directed by CAD.
  • Ensure monthly compliance exit interview post cards are mailed to all terminated employees.
  • Assist CPD with preparation for Standards and Executive Compliance Committee meetings.
  • Assist CPD with administration of annual Compliance Awareness Survey
  • Provide support for the development of a quarterly newsletter, training initiatives, and other communication projects to support the educational efforts of the Compliance Program
  • Promote NorthStar Anesthesia’s Core Values and Compliance Program.

What qualifications you will need

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience, will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years applicable healthcare compliance experience
  • CHC or achieve the certification within 2 years of hire.
  • Knowledge of compliance rules, policies, and procedures preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in Healthcare Compliance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must work independently and with direction.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to compose reports, memos, letters, and other correspondence.
  • Ability to prepare and write reports, summaries of work/work projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Decisions require moderate analysis of data or information requiring development or application of several alternative methods. May involve development of timetables or interpretation of data with moderate impact on an employee group or department.
  • Works directly with or develops confidential information, which requires regular use of discretion.
