Maintenance Technician
Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician must perform preventative maintenance on mill & grain related equipment, and repair and install equipment as necessary. The Maintenance Technician must be able to detect potential mechanical and electrical problems, handle emergency situations and complete repairs as needed. This role has the responsibility to maintain required written records including work performed, corrective actions, and daily maintenance logs. Maintenance personnel must maintain proper OSHA records detailing the scope of the maintenance repairs. A good working relationship with co-workers, communication with mill managers daily, and knowledge of a wide variety of tasks is needed to excel at this position. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician must work in compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Plant maintenance, including cleaning, changing motors, and greasing bearings
· Detect and repair any mechanical or electrical malfunctions within company facilities
· Perform routine checks on buildings, equipment, and other areas of the facility
· Communicate with mill managers daily
· Use Manager Plus to document work orders on NSE assets
· Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations
· Lubricate equipment, inspect belts, check fluid levels, and replace filters as needed
· Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning according to schedule
· Complete appropriate paperwork and reports in an accurate and timely manner
· Must account for all tools and debris from maintenance activities
· Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed
· Obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts and order as needed
· Work well independently and in a group
· Able to prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner
Additional Duties
· Operate a forklift
· Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
· High school degree or equivalent
· Work experience of 5 years in related field preferred
· Previous electrical work experience
· Ability to lift 60 pounds, climb ladders and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 pounds of material
· Must have knowledge of mechanical systems and tools required for general maintenance
· Comply with OSHA and company safety standards
· Ability to work at heights of 135 feet and in confined spaces
· Display a basic understanding of feed ingredients and the importance of not contaminating feed when performing maintenance
