Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office.
Duties:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phone calls and schedule appointments using the office's scheduling system
- Verify patient insurance information and collect necessary co-pays or fees
- Maintain patient records and update medical information as needed
- Assist with medical billing and coding tasks
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail, phone, fax and email
- Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and welcoming for patients
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a medical office, clinical administrative role, or mental health field is preferred
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and terminology is a plus
- General proficiency in using phone systems, computers and online software such as Word or Excel is required
- Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) technology is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete projects while working independently
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
